Our Story
Tutor in Herts started with a simple idea: to make quality teaching available for everyone. I offer engaging lessons that are tailored to each indivdual which promote progression and a lifelong love for learning. Mainly face to face, I offer lessons in a purpose- built classroom in Hemel Hempstead or alternatively, can travel to your home.
About Me
I am a qualified educator with a passion for supporting children to achieve their potential.
With many years experience teaching in the classroom, including independent preparatory schools, I offer tuition for children in Years 1-9.
Having also gained my level 5 certificate in dyscalculia and dyslexia, I offer screening and specialist tuition in both of these areas.
DBS checked, fully insured.
PGCE primary with QTS, PGCert (dyscalculia), PGCert (dyslexia)
What is dyslexia?
As suggested by the British dyslexia association:
Dyslexia is a learning difficulty that primarily affects the skills involved in accurate and fluent word reading and spelling. Characteristic features of dyslexia are difficulties in phonological awareness, verbal memory and verbal processing speed.
So how can I help?
I offer specialist tuition for children with dyslexic-type difficulties. This is tailored to each individual child and what they want to get out of each session, ranging from specific reading and spelling insruction, to study skills and homework help.
What is dyscalculia?
As suggested by the British dyslexia association:
Dyscalculia is a specific and persistent difficulty in understanding numbers which can lead to a diverse range of difficulties with mathematics. Dyscalculia falls at one end of the spectrum and will be distinguishable from other maths issues due to the severity of difficulties with number sense, including subitising, symbolic and non-symbolic magnitude comparison, and ordering.
So how can I help?
I offer specialist tuition for children with specific math difficulties or dyscalculia. Each session is tailored, aiming to support gaps and building on these to ensure success in subsequent lessons. Sessions aim to support real-life math skills, as well as skills needed in the classroom.
